The Canonsburg Volunteer Fire Department
is dedicated to providing fire protection to the residents of Canonsburg
and educating our children on how to prevent fires. The department
encourages fire prevention through education programs which include
fire prevention programs in the elementary schools and tours of
the fire department quarters offered to youth organizations upon
request. The department also conducts courtesy inspections of our
schools and other institutions with an eye toward identifying and
eliminating potentially dangerous conditions.
The costs of fire services are high. The
department supplements funds provided by Canonsburg Borough through
a direct mail solicitation campaign and a number of fund raising
activities that are held each year.
The Canonsburg Volunteer Fire Department
welcomes new members. Anyone interested in learning more about membership
is invited to visit the department between the hours of 7:30 p.m.
to 8:30 p.m. on any Monday evening.
| The recently
completed Firemen's Memorial, located on the lawn of the Canonsburg
Borough Building, was constructed to raise community awareness
of the need for volunteers to provide fire service. It is also
a lasting memorial to deceased members of the department who
dedicated a large part of their lives to protecting our community.
It is hoped that this memorial will encourage other community
spirited individuals to join the fire department dedicated to
protect our families, friends and neighbors. |
